If there’s one thing I’ve learned about growth and transformation, it’s that they require stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks—even when you’re afraid or unsure of the outcome. The mindset “I’ll do it anyway” has been a powerful tool in my life, helping me push past fear, self-doubt, and limitations.
I want to share what it means to adopt this mindset and how it can unlock opportunities for growth and change in your life.
Change isn’t easy. It takes curiosity, intention, and risk. These three things form the foundation for growth. Saying, “I’ll do it anyway” is a declaration of courage. It’s about deciding to move forward despite fear or uncertainty.
I’ve experienced this firsthand. There were many times in my life when people doubted me, and honestly, I doubted myself. But I’ve learned that staying in your comfort zone rarely leads to anything extraordinary. The moments when I chose to push past fear and take risks—those are the moments that shaped me.
One of my favorite mantras is “Do it afraid.” Fear is a natural response when we’re stepping into the unknown, but it doesn’t have to control us. I’ve found that reframing fear as curiosity—What if this works? What if this is the best decision I’ve ever made?—can turn hesitation into action.
Fear thrives on the unknown, but so does possibility. Taking risks means opening the door to outcomes you may never have considered.
I’ll never forget the day my mom told me, “You’re going to get sent back home if you join the service. You talk too much.” I could have let that comment crush my confidence, but instead, I took it as a challenge. “I’ll do it anyway,” I told myself. I wasn’t just proving her wrong—I was proving to myself that I could succeed. And I did.
That attitude has stayed with me over the years. Whether it was career challenges, personal growth, or trying something new, I’ve always leaned into the mindset of “I’ll do it anyway.” It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
Taking risks is uncomfortable. There are many reasons we resist stepping out of our comfort zones:
But here’s what I’ve learned: The biggest risk isn’t failing. It’s staying stuck.
Failure isn’t the end of the story—it’s part of the process. Every time you fail, you learn something valuable about yourself and the path forward. I’ve had plenty of moments where things didn’t go as planned, but those experiences taught me resilience and clarity.
Taking risks builds confidence, even when you don’t get the result you wanted. It’s about proving to yourself that you’re capable of moving forward, no matter what.
If you’re ready to take a leap, here are a few things that have helped me:
One thing I’ve learned as a coach is that having someone in your corner can make all the difference. Coaches provide accountability, encouragement, and a safe space to explore your dreams and fears. If you’re struggling to take that first step, a coach can help you find clarity and confidence.
Take a moment to reflect: What’s stopping you from saying, “I’ll do it anyway”? Is it fear, doubt, or the opinions of others? Write it down. Get curious about what’s really holding you back and what it would feel like to push through.
You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to take the first step.
Choosing to say “I’ll do it anyway” has been a game-changer in my life. It’s a mindset that opens doors to new opportunities, growth, and transformation. Even when the path is unclear, the act of stepping forward is what leads to change.

Do it afraid. Do it anyway. Your best life is waiting.
